SEWAK – Social & Environmental Welfare Association of Khilchipur has been working at the grassroots since 2005, building skills, livelihoods and opportunities for underserved communities across India.
Our History
Years of Grassroots Service
SEWAK – Social & Environmental Welfare Association of Khilchipur was established by a group of social development professionals and was legally registered under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 1973 in 2005.
The organisation began its journey as a Youth Development Centre in Khilchipur, Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh — a region characterised by limited economic opportunities, low literacy and high out-migration among youth.
Over the years, SEWAK gradually evolved from youth development activities into a full-fledged skill development and social development organisation, taking on government-sponsored programmes, institutional partnerships and community-based projects.
Today, SEWAK operates across 9 states — Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, West Bengal and Jammu & Kashmir — with a network of training centres and field implementation teams.
Over 93,000 youth and women have been trained through SEWAK's programmes, spanning vocational skills, digital literacy, women's entrepreneurship, livelihoods, community development and government scheme implementation.

When we started SEWAK in 2005, our goal was simple — to make a difference in the lives of young people and communities around us. Over two decades, that purpose has only grown stronger. Skills are not just a means of employment; they are a means of dignity, independence and hope. Every person we train, every community we work with, is a step towards a more equitable India.

Organisation's Journey
From Khilchipur to 9 States
Established
SEWAK registered under M.P. Societies Registration Act, 1973. Began as a Youth Development Centre in Khilchipur, Rajgarh.
Skill Development Begins
Started formal skill development and vocational training activities, partnering with local institutions and government bodies.
Government Programmes
Began implementation of government-sponsored skill development programmes including NSDC STAR, PMKVY and state-level schemes.
Multi-State Expansion
Expanded operations to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. Strengthened women empowerment and livelihood programmes.
DDU-GKY & MPSSDM
Implemented DDU-GKY and MPSSDM projects, deepening rural skill development and placement-linked training.
Digital & Assessment
Expanded into digital literacy, financial inclusion and third-party assessment support services.
PMKVY 4.0 & NULM
Implemented PMKVY 4.0, DAY-NULM and UPSDM projects across multiple states. Reached 57 training centres.

Crossed 93,000 youth and women trained. Operating across 9 states with a full institutional implementation capability.
